June 16, 1984- World Wrestling Federation... You knew it was going to end this way. The Iron Sheik had taken the WWF Championship belt by making Mr. Bob Backlund humble, then had lost it to a real American in Hulk Hogan. Trying to resuscitate his career, he has run into a REAL AMERICAN HERO in Sgt. Slaughter. After beating the tar out of each other for much of 1984, this culminates in a match in a sold-out Madison Square Garden where there are no rules; it's the type of match that turned Renegades into full-blown members of GI Joe. Sgt. Slaughter was the toughest of all the Joes. He could handle any threat. Communist, Cobra, Iranian... you name it, he can face it.
